Salem High Senior designs Rabbit Hole set!

MARBLEHEAD, MA- Salem High School senior Nate Bertone designed the set to Rabbit Hole, which finishes its run at Marblehead Little Theater (MLT) this weekend. This creative theatrical endeavor is not Bertone’s first, as he has designed sets to fifteen area productions since his sophomore year, feats which helped gain him acceptance to Carnegie Mellon University for Scenic Design in the fall. Bertone was also admitted to four other schools for scenic design.

“I only applied to schools for design because I wanted to challenge myself further and follow my dreams” said Bertone, who received three awards this year at the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival for his design of Salem High School’s production of Postponing the Heat Death of the Universe.

For “Rabbit Hole,” Bertone has decided to take advantage of MLT’s blackbox set-up and present the play partially in the round- “A new setup really works the actors and director to think outside the box and is always a fun surprise for the audience.”

Rabbit Hole first opened in New York in 2006 and explores the emotions of a family’s loss.  The final performances at MLT are May 4th and 5th at 7:30pm and May 6th at 2:00pm. Tickets are available online at www.mltlive.org.
